Dean was born in April 1967 in Guisborough, North Yorkshire and now lives in Ingleby Barwick on Teesside, in the north of England with his wife and three daughters Emily, Alice and Grace.

He started out as a singer songwriter in the late 1980s before realising he was awful and turned his hand to comedy writing. He's never looked back - mainly due to arthritic pain in his neck.

He was Ant and Dec's writer for 7 years penning the multi-award winning SMTV Live and Chums. He also wrote for Stephen Fry on LittleBigPlanet and is the founder of The Wilkinson Press publishing company. And, Dean is the man behind the, now legendary, spoof news website The Tees Bally Fibber.
